Perfume Care Tips

A quality fragrance is an investment. Follow these simple tips to preserve the integrity and longevity of your perfumes.

Storage

Keep away from light: UV rays break down fragrance molecules. Store your perfumes in a dark place or in their original box.

Avoid heat: High temperatures alter the chemical composition of perfumes. Keep them away from radiators, windowsills, and bathrooms.

Store upright: Always keep bottles upright to prevent leakage and minimize air exposure through the cap.

Best Storage Spots

The ideal place to store perfume is a cool, dry, and dark environment — such as a bedroom drawer, closet shelf, or a dedicated fragrance cabinet. Contrary to popular belief, the bathroom is one of the worst places due to humidity and temperature fluctuations.

Handling Your Bottle

Don't shake the bottle: Shaking introduces air bubbles that can degrade the fragrance over time.

Use the spray nozzle: Avoid opening the bottle and dabbing with your finger, as this introduces bacteria and contaminants.

Shelf Life

Most perfumes last 3–5 years when stored properly. Signs that a fragrance has turned include a change in color, a sour or vinegary smell, or a weaker projection than usual.

Travel Tips

When traveling, keep your perfume in your checked luggage or a padded pouch to protect it from pressure changes and impact. Consider decanting into a small travel atomizer to avoid bringing your full bottle.
